Mission of the Position 

The mission of the Analyst is to support the broader team in investment research, monitoring, trading and strategy implementation processes. This role will be a balance of macro, market, and manager research, as a generalist investment analyst, as well as trade support and investment implementation processes for our private funds.

The successful candidate can thrive managing multiple assignments and deadlines and have a passion for learning about markets and investing. Over time, this individual will graduate to a senior investment analyst position and be a key contributor to investment strategy and manager research for the team.

This is a highly visible role across the organization with significant exposure to premier investment managers in the industry.
 
Top Accountabilities  

 
  • Responsible for coverage of a list of active investments across asset types and investment strategies and serves as the firm’s point of contact with those managers. Complexity of strategies will increase with experience and competency
  • Primary back-up to Head of Trading for daily trading activities
  • Conduct market and manager diligence for potential investment or termination under the supervision of senior analysts
  • Participate in investment manager meetings and disseminate notes.
  • Prepare materials and participate in Investment Team, Committee, and Strategy meetings.
  • Draft memos and presentations, in addition to other forms of communication to support the firm’s investment and education efforts and client advisor relationships.
  • Operational support for private funds, including capital flow management, investment subscription/redemptions, projects as needed
 
Other Duties & Responsibilities 
 
  • Data entry, management, and reporting of investment index and manager performance databases on daily and bi-weekly basis.
  • Maintain approved manager exposure and attribution data and conduct actionable analyses
  • Actively monitors and identifies performance drivers, risks, and relevant news of covered managers and related strategies.
  • Understands investment processes, operations, and structures of investment managers.
  • Utilizes proprietary research technology to facilitate ongoing qualitative and quantitative due diligence of diverse investment strategies.
  • Develops relationships with industry contacts to facilitate due diligence on both current and new investment opportunities.
  • Sources and evaluates potential new investment opportunities.
  • Frequently liaises with client service team to provide regular updates on portfolio investments in advance of client/prospect meetings.

Key Criteria/Requirements 
 
  •  Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in finance or investing
  • Strong interest in financial markets, economics, and the investment industry.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Process-driven and proactive with excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Bloomberg, Orion/Eclipse, Pitchbook, YCharts

Physical Requirements
 
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. 
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. 
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
