Job Summary: 


The Vice President of Tax Planning, Family Office is primarily responsible for analyzing tax landscapes for ultra-high-net-worth individuals through our proprietary review and visualization process aimed at identifying potential tax savings and/or financial planning opportunities. The VP of Tax is expected to collaborate with Client Advisors within the firm, as well as other professional service providers of our clients, to find and articulate these opportunities, and present the analysis and findings to our sophisticated clients and prospects.

For select Family Office clients, the VP of Tax will oversee all tax compliance activities, including calculating and making estimated tax payments, providing concise information to our clients’ tax preparers, and oversight of all tax deadlines to ensure timely filings.

Additionally, the VP of Tax will serve as an internal consultant to our Client Advisors for strategic tax planning advice for select clients. These activities will require collaboration between multiple internal and external professionals, including Trust & Estate attorneys, tax preparers and Client Advisors.



Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Tax landscape analysis and strategic tax planning.
  • Collaborate with Family Office clients’ tax preparers in the oversight of federal and state income and gift tax returns for high-net-worth individuals. Review returns as needed.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with clients, staff, and outside third-party client vendors.
  • Tax projections and other tax planning activities.
  • Perform, document, and communicate findings for tax research as needed.
  • Calculate and prepare quarterly estimated tax payments for individuals.
  • Review preparation of form 1099s for various entities.
  • Review payroll tax forms for household employees.
  • Review withholding for various clients.
  • Correspond with federal and state taxing authorities to answer notices.
  • Keep abreast of legislative and tax policy changes at both Federal and State levels.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; MST degree a plus.
  • CPA and/or CFP is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of HNW personal income tax prep experience.
  • Experience with HNW and UHNW; Family office services experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Tableau preferred.
  • Experience with CCH Prosystems fx Axcess or other tax deliverable tracking software a plus
  • Comfortable working independently and in a group environment.
  • Organized, detail oriented and flexible in adjusting well to change.
  • Remains calm under pressure with the ability to prioritize deadlines.
  • Highly analytical and ready to make immediate impact in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
